Short path - or molecular - distillation allows the evaporation of heat sensitive products at operating pressures down to 0,001 mbar at short residence times. On a cylindrical heating jacket the product is distributed and turbulized by a wiping system. The evaporated fraction is condensed on a condenser installed in the center of the evaporator. This arrangement minimizes the path from evaporation to condensing surface and achieves the lowest possible pressure drop. The high vacuum and the short residence time avoids thermal stress and decomposition of the processed products.
VTA GmbH & Co. KG3.0H60VTA is a manufacturer of wiped film and short path evaporators and plants with sizes from laboratory, pilot until large production scale. For many products the evaporation technology is key for achieving sufficient product quality at decent yields. The fields of application and industries are diverse and require highly specific solutions. On wiped film and short path distillation systems operating pressures down to 0,001 mbar and temperatures up to 350°C can be achieved. Furthermore, products with viscosities of more than 100.000 mPas and melting points of more than 200°C can be handled. VTA has on its headquarters in Niederwinkling (Bavaria), Germany, own equipment for wiped film and short path distillation available to perform contract manufacturing for customers. This toll distillation is performed for campaign sizes starting with some kg up to several hundred metric tons.
