Wiped film and thin film evaporators consist of a cylindrical heating jacket and an inner rotating wiper system, distributing the product on the heating jacket as a thin and turbulent film. The turbulence in the wiped film increases the heat and mass transfer to achieve a high evaporation rate at short residence times, often within a single processing pass. The separated vapors are either condensed on an external condenser or further separated in a fractional column. Wiped film and thin film evaporation allow the handling of heat-sensitive, fouling and viscous products.
VTA GmbH & Co. KG3.0H60VTA is a manufacturer of wiped film and short path evaporators and plants with sizes from laboratory, pilot until large production scale. For many products the evaporation technology is key for achieving sufficient product quality at decent yields. The fields of application and industries are diverse and require highly specific solutions. On wiped film and short path distillation systems operating pressures down to 0,001 mbar and temperatures up to 350°C can be achieved. Furthermore, products with viscosities of more than 100.000 mPas and melting points of more than 200°C can be handled. VTA has on its headquarters in Niederwinkling (Bavaria), Germany, own equipment for wiped film and short path distillation available to perform contract manufacturing for customers. This toll distillation is performed for campaign sizes starting with some kg up to several hundred metric tons.
