ULTRAPLEX UPZ - Fine Impact Mill The ULTRAPLEX UPZ fine impact mill offers outstanding versatility for the size reduction of soft to medium-hard materials (up to Mohs 3.5). With interchangeable grinding tools and flexible configurations, it ensures precise particle size control and consistent product quality across a wide range of applications. The UPZ operates on a modular principle: grinding elements such as pin discs, beater discs, swing beaters, or plate beaters can be exchanged easily to suit specific materials and fineness targets. Depending on configuration and feed properties, the machine achieves end-product fineness from approx. 50 µm to 5 mm. Its large, accessible grinding chamber allows for quick cleaning and fast tool changeovers, making it ideal for frequent product switches and hygienic environments. Material is fed into the grinding chamber and accelerated by a high-speed rotor. Particles are reduced through impact and shear between grinding elements and the housing. This efficient principle provides controlled energy input and uniform particle size distribution, even for heat-sensitive or greasy products. Typical applications include chemicals (pigments, resins, polymers), food and feed (sugar, salt, spices, grains), and pharmaceuticals (active ingredients, additives). A common example is spice or vanilla grinding, where the UPZ produces fibrous-free, aromatic powders with reproducible quality.
