As clean label and sustainable packaging trends continue to shape the food industry, manufacturers face challenges in maintaining product shelf life and quality. Removing synthetic additives and modifying packaging for recyclability often compromises oxidative stability, increasing food spoilage and waste. Kalsec studies indicate that naturally derived antioxidants can increase the shelf-life of a food stored in sustainable packaging to a level comparable to conventional packaging. These findings support a balanced approach in using natural antioxidants to meet clean label demands while enabling the use of sustainable packaging, without sacrificing product flavor or stability.
